Comment on BioKleen Automatic Dish Powder, Free...

Eco-friendly and powder, how good could it be, right? Despite all the good reviews I had fairly low expectations. Was I pleasantly surprised! This might be the best dish detergent I've tried. I've done a few loads with white vinegar, a few without...dishes come out sparkling clean regardless. Very happy with the purchase.

We have been using this for a couple of weeks now and it is working as well as my previous detergents (Sam's Club powder and Cascade powder). Everything comes out of my Maytag washer clean and shiny. We will probably continue using this product as it is much "greener" than other products.

I bought BioKleen dish powder after we ran out of our conventional brand tabs, and crossed my fingers when I poured it into the machine. I was hopeful it would work well but prepared myself for the worst (especially since I bought a huge tub of it); I was pleasantly surprised to see that our dishes were perfectly clean, smelled fresh (the conventional brand tended to leave behind a kind of chemical smell), no streaks on the glass or anything. I priced it out to compare it to the conventional tabs we got in bulk from Costco, and the price is comparable, maybe a few cents more per load, but not a prohibitive increase in price. I love/use BioKleen's other products (Bac Out!!) so it's nice to know that the brand is consistent. I also love that it's fragrance and phosphate free.

Biokleen does leave a powdery substance if some water is left standing, like on an overturned cup. I only use 1Tablespoon (I have hard water) so I don't think it's because I use too much. But it rinses off easily, so I don't think I should complain. I just wish I knew what that stuff is....I hope it's edible, because sometimes you can't see it.

I tried a bottle of this to see how it compared to the Method Dish Tablets. I liked that I could adjust the amount of detergent I used as it was in powder form. This let me wash lighter or heavier loads without worry that I would have either residue buildup from too much detergent or the dishes wouldn't get clean. Even works great on our Stainless Steel All-Clad pots and pans.

I chose this product because I am trying to go more green with cleaning. I liked the price per load. The glass dishes came out very clean and had no residue. However, any plastic items in the dishwasher were left with a white film. I am going back to using Method brand tablets. They are a little more expensive, but clean all materials well.

By the way our dishwasher is about 15 years old and we have very hard water, so if it works for us it will probably work for you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

  • Laura Louise Harden "Taterbug"

I highly recommend this product to anyone! It is very effective, also cost effective. It is free of phosphates, chlorine, and pretty much all chemicals. I will be using this from now on. Great product.

Not only safe but works great. No problems with food or marks on dishes at all. I use it with a dryer product to help dry the glass's and when its done everything comes out great. I would never have thought I would get away from Electrosol (Finish) but after finding out about the phosphates in those products I decided it was time to change. I've had both bad and good "safe" cleaners and I have to say this one surprised me at how well it worked. I changed over to safer laundry detergent a long time ago and I never thought about dash detergent so I'm glad I caught the article about these. Phosphates are terrible for the environment they damage waterways killing fish, etc. They also cause septic systems to fail- they kill off the natural bacteria your system needs to operate and last a long time. So please take all this into consideration if you don't already know this and switch over to safer products, don't fall for the stuff that has the best commercials and marketing. They are interested in profit- not making safer products. And you will be supporting a smaller business that cares. Soon phosphates will be against the law anyway so may as well make the change now! Thanks for reading and hope everyone will choose products safer for our planet and make the place better for our kids.

This is a wonderful product, but if you have hard water the instructions on the container say to use 2 tablespoons and put white vinegar in the rinse container. So I have always made sure this was done and dishes have been incredibly clean and just the best washing job I've ever seen. 7th generation soap was used before and it didn't do the job like this does. I am chemical sensitive so buying this product was needed. The 7th generation does have certain chemicals in it that chemical sensitive folks may find irritating; it was clogging my sinuses actually. So in doing this change out sinus congestion is gone and the dishes are sparkling clean. Read the instructions on the container as it varies if you don't have hard water. Those who are saying it doesn't clean well probably need to use the white vinegar rinse container in their machines. I will be buying this product again. I also bought the clothes washer powder this company makes and am very pleased with how it does. This company is excellent for anyone with chemical sensitivity or sinus congestion or any type of lung problems. It will keep your home scent free. The 7th generation still had something in it that I was reacting to so I am very elated to find this particular product. It is truly a great product, just use it correctly with the vinegar rinse.
